🏈📈Week 10 Waiver Wire Report and Keeping an Eye on the Schedule
Now's the time to start lining up your matchups for the rest of the way
QB
Cam Newton | CAR
Incase you haven’t heard, Cam Newton is very much back. 2 TDs in a limited role last week for Cam, both in the red zone. Do I expect the MVP from before? No. Do I expect a QB who gets a ton of red zone touches with the best back in the NFL, throwing to the best collection of pass catchers he’s ever had to be worthy of rostering? Absolutely. If you have Matt Stafford on a bye this week or Patrick Mahomes/Kyler Murray out next week, Cam Newton is absolutely worthy of adding.
RB
Rhamondre Stevenson | NE
Shoutout to 58% of you who own AJ Dillon, keeping him off my list this week (if he is available however he is a must add for a playoff push). Since he can’t be included however Rhamondre Stevenson is the next man up. He’s coming off an impressive performance last week and even if Harris comes back, Bill Belichick is notorious for having multiple backs be the guy at different points throughout the season. Stevenson could be that guy the rest of the way if he gets a good opportunity for touches again this week but be cautious, his playoff schedule isn’t a friendly one (more on that later).
Latavius Murray | BAL
LeVeon Bell was cut earlier today by Baltimore which leads me to believe that Latavius Murray is expected to be back this weekend. He’s available in over 70% of leagues but with Devontae Freeman having some success as Baltimore’s top back it’s hard to say that Murray will regain his job as the top dog in the Ravens RB room. That said, if he does he could be a nice matchup dependent FLEX down the stretch.
WR
Rashod Bateman | BAL
I am here once again to tell you to go get Rashod Bateman. A weird Ravens game offensively against Miami saw him in a smaller role than expected with the return of Sammy Watkins. Watkins performance on Thursday night, highlighted by fumbling his lone catch and pulling up short of a surefire TD, and Bateman’s strong usage late I feel like is still an indication of things to come.
Kadarius Toney | NYG
Kadarius Toney is still on the waiver wire in a majority of leagues and it’s like we forgot how he was used before he got hurt. The lone target he received against the Raiders was disappointing but the Giants only had 20 pass attempts all game so it’s not like there was much else to go around. Part of that was due to the fact that Daniel Jones spent much of the game on his back but the potential return of Andrew Thomas this week could really provide a boost to this Giants passing attack, same goes for Saquon Barkley returning to the field, adding another weapon that defenses have to respect. Expect Toney’s second half of the season to look more like his usage in week’s 4-6.
With the season winding down, now is the time to look ahead at the schedule and see who does and doesn’t have favorable matchups to end the year. You want to get ahead of that now and start lining up or eyeing any potential streamers or buy low/sell high candidates with the deadline fast upon us. For example, the Eagles CB Darius Slay has ERASED top WRs all season long. It’s to the point where you might consider benching your top guy if he’s playing the Eagles. Wanna know who hasn’t faced the Eagles yet this season? Terry McLaurin. Now I’m not telling you right now to bench Scary Terry, but you more than certainly need to find a streamer incase you have no choice but to bench him. Now is the time to start to plan ahead for stuff like that because for those of you who are fighting for one of the last playoff spots, the playoffs can feel like the start sooner than they really do. So keep matchups in mind the rest of the way when building your roster for the long haul.
